Largest sex discrimination claim is dropped

The largest sex discrimination claim ever filed in a UK employment tribunal has been dramatically withdrawn.

Claire Bright made a claim for £11 million against financial giant HBOS where she earned more than £600,000 as head of the financial group's asset and liability management group.

She had alleged that she was discriminated against, victimised and unfairly sacked by her boss, Cliff Pattenden who, her claim states, "could not manage a successful woman" and was regarded by staff as a "mini-Hitler".

HBOS said in a statement that: "Ms Bright has accepted her allegations of discrimination, victimisation and bullying against HBOS or any of its employees were unfounded and they have been withdrawn without any compensation."
